Fill in the information requested by the Order Wizard. In this case, choose "I will use My Existing Domain and update My Nameservers only".

Type in your Existing Domain. Click on next >>

Choose the Hatchling package if you plan on having just one domain (you can always upgrade later). Click on Continue >>

Click on "Calculate Totals".

Fill in the customer details.

Pay attention to the requirements for Username and Password.

Username must be alphanumeric and start with a lowercase letter. Min length: 3. Max length: 8 IMPORTANT: Username may not contain hyphens or spaces!

Password must be between 3 and 15 alphanumeric characters starting with a lowercase letter. Note: The underscore and dash characters are ok. IMPORTANT: The password cannot contain any part of the username!

Later you will create an email address for this domain. It is important that you provide a current email address, not @ the domain you are signing up under.

Things to point out - provide a valid email, use services provided for lawful purposes, maximum file permission of 755, no spam, allow up to 72 hours to cancel your account, Hostgator provides backups as a courtesy, don't overuse resources (tip: login to cPanel and choose "Mail", then "Default Address", "Set Default Address", and then type in: :fail: No such user here).


Once your order has been received by Hostgator's billing system and approved, you can login at https://secure.hostgator.com/~billing/ with your primary email address and password you provided at signup.

You will need to login and make payment before your account will be setup (if you are using Paypal, credit card transactions should occur automatically).

After payment, you can expect your account to be setup within 20 minutes.

Once your account is setup, you should receive an email that looks like the following. Make note of your name servers - you will need to return to your domain registrar (in this case, Godaddy) and update your nameserver information.

Return to Godaddy and login to your account with the username and password you created when you purchased your domain.

Scroll down until you find the domain recently purchased.

Click on the name of the domain.

Click on the manage link near Nameservers.

Select the "I host my domains with another provider." option and replace the two nameservers with the two nameservers provided by Hostgator in Your HostGator Account Information email. Click OK.

You might see a message that says "Your changes have been submitted. Please allow a few minutes for the changes to take effect.". Click OK.
